Like a beautiful golden pearl, Skåbu is situated in the middle of southern Norway, surrounded by hospitable mountains and old picturesque country courtyards and green hills. Skåbu Mountain hotel is a newly renovated family-run boutique hotel in the center of Skåbu

Skåbu Mountain Hotel opened its doors in 2019, and has been renovated with an eye for detail and love for history and nature.

We have 17 units divided into double rooms, suites and apartments, as well as a cozy fireplace lounge, restaurant and good meeting room facilities. We have created a gastronomic pearl of a restaurant in the Norwegian mountains.

The kitchen uses ingredients from its own farms such as wild sheep and free range mountain pigs, game and fish from local hunters, as well as cheese, milk and seasonal products from local partners in Gudbrandsdalen.

On 15. December 2023, restaurant Skadir was awarded 2 circles in 360 Eatguide. Two circles correspond to the classification "gastronomy".

We refine and produce local and untraveled food through our own food brand, Skåbu Høyfjellsmat. In our processing facility we produce hams, bacon, sausages from wild sheep, moose and free-range montain pigs, fenalår, dry-salted and smoked Skåbu-moose, burgers from moose, stews, soups and sauces etc. to the hotel's restaurant and for commercial sales.

The hotel has received prestigious awards for its sustainability work and commitment to regenerative tourism (HSMAI 2021), and our membership in international Regenerative Travel.

We tailor-make weddings, conferences and celebrations. It is possible to rent the entire hotel both in a commercial and private context.

Skåbu is a perfect starting point for activities throughout all seasons such as mountain walks, top tours, kite lessons, dog sledding, rafting in Sjoa, fishing, matauk & cooking classes, canoeing, guided tour of the family farm Lykkja fjellgard (a mini Maihaugen) with a taste of home-produced local food from Skåbu Høyfjellsmat, bicycle rental etc.

Welcome to Skåbu Mountain Hotel and to Skåbu mountain village!
