Welcome to NM in honey's celebration day!

Friday 30 January 2026 invites HANEN, the Norwegian Beekeepers' Association and ByBi to the NM in honey – the sweetest celebration of the year of Norwegian honey and the invaluable efforts of both our bees and beekeepers!

New record

Before the big day, an expert panel of judges will taste 335 honeys from 195 producers across the country. This is a new record in both the number of honeys and participants. 

– NM i Honning will highlight new and exciting Norwegian honey producers. Norwegian honey is a unique diversity of honey types with distinctive flavors, which Norwegian consumers will discover and experience through the visibility NM i Honning provides, says the general manager of HANEN, Bernt Bucher Johannessen.

Strong final jury

The final judging will take place on January 26th, and this year's winners will be revealed on January 30th, with an awards ceremony and gala dinner.

– This year, we have aimed to include more chefs in the jury that will judge the 98 honeys that are in the final. Getting Norwegian restaurants to use more Norwegian honey is one of the main purposes of the NM i Honning. Famous chefs often help change consumers' interests and can inspire them to use new raw materials, says project manager for the NM i Honning, Erling Kristensen in HANEN.

The NM in honey will create pride, highlight the high quality of Norwegian honey and raise awareness of the important role beekeeping plays for nature and food production.

Awards ceremony and gala dinner

The day offers a varied and inspiring program, filled with professional features, an award ceremony and a tasty gala dinner prepared by the chefs of the future.

Everything takes place at the Norwegian Restaurant School.
