The Marmelkroken in winter costume

Marmelkroken on Andøya ready for pop-up weddings on Valentine's Day 2026

– We are really looking forward to it, says Lisbeth Seppola at Marmelkroken on the outskirts of beautiful Andøya.

On Valentine's Day 2026, the unique farm and experience venue will open its doors for humanistic weddings in collaboration with the Human-Ethical Association (HEF). With the sea, majestic mountains and snow-covered plains as a backdrop, everything is in place for an atmospheric and intimate pop-up wedding in Northern Norway.

A new wedding venue on Andøya

The idea of arranging a wedding has matured over time. Seppola, who is the general manager and owner of Marmelkroken Gård, says that the initiative came about in collaboration with a friend who is a master of ceremonies at the Human-Ethical Federation.
When HEF wanted to expand the number of wedding venues on Valentine's Day in 2026, Marmelkroken submitted an application – and received approval as a new wedding venue on Andøya.

Magnificent setting for an intimate wedding

Marmelkroken Gård is located in a unique natural area on Andøya in Nordland, surrounded by rough seas and dramatic mountains. It hosts parties, anniversaries and accommodation for guests who want a close-to-nature experience.
The venue has capacity for up to 50 people, but during the pop-up wedding on Valentine's Day, the setting becomes more intimate – tailored to couples who want a smaller and personal wedding with only their closest friends present.

Personal, down-to-earth and atmospheric

– It's great to have received recognition as a wedding venue, and it's extra fun that we've already received bookings for pop-up weddings on Valentine's Day itself, says Seppola.
The ceremony is described as simple, beautiful and atmospheric – an option for couples who want a more down-to-earth and authentic wedding in Arctic surroundings.

Pop-up weddings – a popular offer

In 2025, the Human-Ethical Federation organized a pop-up wedding on Valentine's Day for the first time. Over 80 couples took advantage of the offer.
In 2026, the concept will expand to 20 wedding venues across the country, and Marmelkroken is one of the northernmost locations.

Short-distance and nature-inspired winter wedding

Preparations are already underway. The plan is to decorate the venue with shrubs and branches from the farm to create a cozy and warm atmosphere – in the middle of the winter landscape.
The focus is on locally sourced elements, natural materials and a holistic experience that reflects the surrounding nature.

Love in the abyss

– There is something special about arranging a wedding, and we would gladly do it again, says Seppola.
Love, closeness and nature belong here out in the open sea on Andøya. What makes it extra special is that the ceremony will be led by her good friend, Elin Gro Fredriksen.
