The Lofoten Heritage Siri Helen Winther is a fourth generation cheesemaker, and her passion for cheese is as genuine as it is deep. Her family has been making cheese for generations on idyllic Gimsøya in Lofoten, a tradition Siri is now carrying on.

World-class craftsmanship and quality At Winther Ysteri we make cheese the same way it has always been done in Lofoten – with true Norwegian craftsmanship. We only use organic, unpasteurized milk from local farms, and it is this dedication to pure, natural ingredients that has earned our cheeses several awards.

We are especially proud of our award-winning Snøball Burrata, which won gold in the World Cheese Award – the world championship in cheese! In total, we make 12 different cheeses, each with its own unique taste and character.

Real, local and transparent To share this proud history and knowledge, we have built a city ​​cheese factory at Aker Brygge in Oslo with a completely open production. Here you can see the cheese being made from the inside and outside. We want to be completely transparent – ​​from milk to finished cheese – so you can experience the real, local craftsmanship up close.
