We produce Jærosten in an over 100-year-old cheese factory in the middle of the food court in Jæren. This was the first cooperative cheese factory in Jæren to operate year-round. In the local Jærosten is made, there was production from 1901 to 1963
Then production was moved to a new building further west on the farm.

Jærosten is an artisanal cheese made from freshly strained raw milk (unpasteurized). The milk goes directly from the udder to the cheese vat, is added with lactic acid bacteria from the Alps and Swedish calf pastures. The cheese vat is made of copper. The copper ions are of great value for the fermentation of the cheese. They positively promote lactic and propionic acid fermentation, protein breakdown and enzyme quality. The cheese taste becomes milder and better with more aroma. Copper is important for growth and resistance, and it stimulates hemoglobin production.

Jærosten is the first authorized raw milk cheese in Norway ever. Jærosten received a gold medal in the national exhibition for farm cheese in 2003, 2005 and 2007. In 2007, Jærosten was named CHEESE OF THE YEAR. Jærosten has the Specialty Mark.
