At Torheim Gard, at the far end of Hjelledalen in Stryn – at the transition between east and west – we run an organic and regenerative farm shaped by the landscape we live in. Steep hills, forests, pastures and arable land set the framework for the operation.
We work holistically, with soil, plants and animals as part of the same cycle. Living soil, animal welfare and biodiversity are not goals in themselves, but prerequisites for the quality of the raw materials – and the food we prepare.
On the farm we grow a wide range of vegetables, herbs and edible flowers in an organic vegetable garden. We keep grass-fed sheep that use both inland, outland and pasture, and free-range pigs that are an active part of the landscape and resource management. The orchard provides us with apples for must, cider and further processing, and the raw materials from the farm are further processed into artisanal products.
In the self-operated farm shop you will find our own products from the farm, along with a small and carefully selected assortment from other local and organic producers. The selection varies with season and availability, but the basis is always the same: raw materials with a clear origin, processed with craftsmanship and quality.
Torheim Gard produces organic raw materials and processed products based on its own resources and the seasons in Stryn.
In the vegetable garden we grow a wide range of vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. The sheep are grass-fed and use both inland and pasture pastures, while the pigs are outdoors in season and live in an environment that facilitates natural behavior. The meat is processed by us at local processing facilities, with an emphasis on craftsmanship and quality - from cured meats and specialty sausages to farm burgers and pure cuts, inspired by traditions from the world around us - with our own recipes.
We also process raw materials from the garden through fermentation, and make sauerkraut and other pickled vegetables with live cultures. From the orchard – and apple orchards in Oppstryn – we press apples into must, cider and apple cider vinegar.
You can find the products in selected specialty stores in the area and in the self-service farm shop in the yard. In the high season we are open every day - welcome!
