ICE CREAM - Made with goat's milk and love

Like most Norwegians, entrepreneur Silje Lee Knutsen grew up with brown cheese on her breakfast table. "I remember well how I used to roll the brown cheese slices into little caramel-like "fudge" balls. It felt like candy for breakfast."

Later in life, she discovered that she was lactose intolerant. Yet she also wanted to pass on something nutritious and authentic to her children. She began exploring alternative raw materials, and quickly found her way to a local goat farmer in Eidsdal, who is today one of the company's raw material suppliers of goat milk.

Goat's milk has a composition that is similar in many ways to breast milk, and contains fewer and more easily digestible milk proteins than cow's milk. This makes it gentler for people who are lactose intolerant.

STORFJORD ISKREM is a small ice cream manufacturer with a focus on Norwegian ingredients and taste traditions. From our factory at Storfjorden in Stordal, we hand-craft premium ice cream based on fresh goat's milk. The flavors are developed with inspiration from the best seasonal ingredients from local farmers and producers, combined with proud craft traditions.

The ice cream is developed with passion for true Italian Gelato craftsmanship - with a distinct Norwegian signature.

We call it: Tradition – with a modern twist.

WE CHEER UP FOR NORWEGIAN GOAT FARMERS

Highlighting farmers and local producers who do invaluable work every day is an important driving force for us. When they deliver high-quality ingredients, it is our responsibility to further nurture them – through ice cream with good, honest and innovative flavors.

For us, Storfjord Iskrem is about more than just taste. We want to contribute to the sustainable development of Norwegian food production. That's why we support goat farmers - an industry that plays a crucial role in preserving our cultural landscape.

Grazing goats are an important part of the ecosystem. They help keep the landscape open and vibrant, while ensuring good animal welfare and sustainable use of natural resources.

Our ice cream is made from nutritious goat milk from animals that graze along fjords and in the mountains. With this as a starting point, we draw inspiration from both the nature and traditions around us – and create flavors with a clear Norwegian roots.
