Visit our mountain farm, get to know the goats, taste our cheeses, mountain char, goat meat and freshly baked bread straight from the oven. Try the salt cave and become a new person during your stay here with us in beautiful and wild nature with unimaginable possibilities summer and winter! Pre-order!

Sæterstad Gård was originally a farm, but was permanently settled in 1927 by Kaspari Simonsen and Julia Kristiansdotter with nine children. Siri Kobberrød and Knut Kastnes bought the farm in 1980 and started with dairy goats. Since then, it has become the country's first land-based fish farm for Arctic char, called fiskefjøs, Northern Norway's first authorized farm sister, its own micropower plant and finally, the Environmental House with a solar collector roof, sauna, jacuzzi and, not least, a salt cave.

We have a small farm shop, open mostly all year round, selling our own products such as various goat cheeses, smoked and hot-smoked mountain trout, goat sausage and frozen goat meat (thigh and shoulder). We also sell a number of Himalayan salt products. We use this in all our products.

We are open all year round for bookings for dining and accommodation. The farm café is open every Saturday during the school summer holidays 11.00-16.00. Here we also offer a one-hour guided tour of the farm every Saturday at 12.00, (NOK 100,-/50,-). We also recommend the hiking trail around Bessvatnet. There are many fishing opportunities here and plenty of trout, fishing license NOK 100,-. Boats can be borrowed for free.
