Welcome to Øvre-Eide Gård - The Farm in the City. We are located in scenic surroundings just five minutes from Bergen city center. Both the farm and the beautiful main house have historical roots dating back to the 1500th century. We are open all year round, and offer open farm, farm visits for groups, maternity meetings, senior meetings, horseback riding on the city mountains and facilities for everything from weddings, Christmas parties, confirmations and birthdays, to conferences, courses, team building and kick-offs. We also welcome schoolchildren, kindergartens, senior centers and much, much more.

In addition to active farming with Fjord and Dølah horses, sheep, chickens, rabbits and cats, Øvre-Eide Gård has several different and atmospheric party rooms, where we welcome all types of parties. The food is locally sourced and of the highest quality, and the farm has both its own chefs and pastry chef!

Before Harald Fairhair united Norway into one kingdom, Øvre-Eide Farm is said to have been the seat of a petty king. Grave finds indicate that the farm was both large and old, but like so many other farms, Øvre-Eide was abandoned after the Black Death. In 1563, farming resumed, and the site was at that time one of the larger farms in Åsane. It was during this period that the current main house with a dungeon in the basement was probably built – and the dungeon has been in use! Among others, the great thief Gjest Baardsen, who ravaged Western Norway in the period 1791-1849, is said to have been imprisoned here.

Today, the farm is run by the fifth generation of Øvre-Eide; Arild Nydegger Øvre-Eide.
