Ormbostad Gard is an organic dairy and sheep farm on Ertvågsøya in Aure municipality.
The farm has a cozy little farm shop selling leather, wool, meat and dairy products from the protected livestock breeds Vestlandsk Fjordfe and Sida Trønderfe, as well as old spelesau breeds such as Villsau and Gammelnorsk Spelsau.
We will try to utilize as much of our animals as possible, so additional products such as wool and leather from both sheep/lamb and cow/calf/ox are further processed.
Our sheep have many colors, the wool has so-called colored fibers, which have no value for Norwegian wool recipients today. Therefore, the wool is sorted and transported to lease spinning at Selbu Spinneri in Trøndelag, which washes and spins the wool according to old tradition into the finished product: Knitting yarn.
In the small farm shop/workshop in the farmhouse we sell knitting yarn, but also whole leather and printed seat pads, cowhide long table runners, etc., handmade soaps, sheep and lamb meat (all year round) and cattle (on order in the fall). We also have access to deer meat for order.
We plan to bring in a more diverse selection of products and plan in the future to bring in goods from other local producers in our area.
