Welcome to beautiful Veiholmen, a small fishing village 9 km out to sea from the rich island of Smøla in Nordmøre. The road out here runs between islets and skerries and you almost feel like you are driving in the actual shipping lane outward, surrounded by flashing green and red lights that normally indicate the seaway outward.
Here among white wooden houses, narrow alleys and streets we run our small tourism business Olsens Pensjonat & Gjestehus, where we offer accommodation in 4 newly renovated guesthouses as well as the beautiful OlsenNaustet Restaurant from the 1700th century.
We have a total of 18 rooms with a total of 34 beds spread across our cozy guesthouses, and with us you share bathrooms, in good "beach hotel" style, so a good bathrobe is not a bad idea to bring!
Meals can be prepared in our well-equipped kitchens in harmony with the other guests of the house, or you can stroll down to Restaurant OlsenNaustet, which is located with the sea as its closest neighbor, for a pleasant meal. During the summer, a light lunch menu is served there, and in the evening the menu is based on Nordmøre specialties and ingredients. We highly recommend that you book a table by email to post@smia.no or phone 46971040 so that you are sure to get a table in this intimate and cozy venue!
There are also other restaurants on Veiholmen as well as a lovely little coffee shop with delicious cakes, spreadable lunch food and a barista-worthy coffee menu.
As a guest on Veiholmen, you can enjoy yourself throughout the year just by strolling around the fishing village, joining a guided weather walk with an expert, taking a Stikk-ut trip on your own, paddling among islets and skerries with Smøla Kayak, enjoying a rib trip through the island's large archipelago and into the realm of the white-tailed eagle with Smøla Naturopplevleser, taking a 9-hole round on the golf course, visiting the island's salmon farming exhibition center or simply just sitting down on the Pensioner's bench by the shop and letting time pass while chatting with the locals who are also happy to sit there and enjoy the day!
If you are interested in photography, the light and cloud formations are constantly changing out here in the open sea, which provides exciting photo opportunities of the landscape and ocean.
At Veiholmen and Smøla there is something for everyone – regardless of activity level and interests!
Please consult www.opplevsmola.com for more information about the island.
Welcome to us at Veiholmen!
