WELCOME TO MELCHIORGARDEN. Our farm is located in the idyllic village of Norddal, which you will find right between the famous Geirangerfjord and the Trollstigen. On the farm we have dogs, cats, chickens and 250 dairy goats. Every spring the goat barn is bustling with activity when 400 new goat kids are born and need to be cared for. In late summer and autumn we pick raspberries, apples, pears, currants and other goodies. With us you can see, taste, experience and participate in what a western farm has to offer.

Activity – In the summer you can meet the goats at Herdalssetra, and on the "goat safari" you can help feed and chat with the goats. We rent out rowboats and motorboats, you can borrow bicycles, and we help you find the activity you want.

Farm shop – Here you will find various meat products made from our own animals, and many products made from berries and fruit. You will also find products from other producers in the village here.

Farm visit – We can accommodate groups of up to 30 people. We offer information and catering where the focus is on the products and life on the farm.

Melchiorgarden has been known as a private farm since the early 1700th century. The farm is located second from the sea, on "Dalssida", in the village of Norddal.

As one of two goat farms still in operation in Norddal, we collaborate on the operation of Herdalsetra, where the goats are kept on summer pasture. Here we hire a "farm owner" to take care of milking and maintenance in July - August. At the farm we have a cabin, which we rent out during the spring, summer and autumn periods.

In 2010, we built a new goat barn, with space for about 200 dairy goats. Goat meat has become a sought-after product, and April is the peak season. Goats are slaughtered either in spring or autumn. The first after about six weeks, and then have a slaughter weight of around four kilograms. Goats that are allowed to go to summer pasture, and that are not to be used as dairy animals, are slaughtered in September. They then have a slaughter weight of around 15 kg.

In addition to goat meat, we make boiled and cured meat from pure goat meat. Stick meat and cured legs are produced in the run-up to Christmas, and should be ordered well in advance.

All goat and kid skins are tanned and are popular gift items.

Since 2003, we have had about 5 acres of raspberries, and a harvest of between 7 and 8 tons per season. In addition to fresh consumption berries for shops, hotels and direct sales from the farm, we make juice, jam and jelly from this fantastic raw material.

A new farm kitchen with a farm store and rooms for visiting groups was put into use in the spring of 2011.

In the store you can also find goods from several of the local food producers in “The Happy End – Norddal”. This organization aims to produce food, culture and experiences based on local products, nature and traditions. Together we can tailor offers for larger and smaller groups who want to come to us.
