We are located deep in the forest, an hour from Oslo and Gardermoen and not far from Kongsvinger. Maarud Gjestegaard is ideal for gathering groups of 10-40 people: company meetings, kick-offs, courses and large and small celebrations.
We offer accommodation in three historic buildings. Each building has its own stories and: its own charm. Here you get an insight into a forestry community that was.
Nature accompanies us in everything we do. We light the fireplace with wood from Maarud's deep forests, gather raw materials in the same forest, buy eggs, chickens and honey from the neighboring farm, and bake the bread ourselves. We serve locally sourced elk meat, and take you on forest walks in all seasons, in all kinds of weather. The environment is generous, unsnobbish and inclusive.
It is easy to understand that the natural setting at Maarud Gaard is perfect for bringing people together.
A warm welcome!

In the middle of the forest in a clearing there are some old and beautiful houses. The Villa and the Hut are their names and are testimony to a forestry community that was. Then we have Skogheim, the forest workers' house. Here the men came strolling with axes over their shoulders at dusk, here the cook waited with dinner.

The time is new, the peace is the same. The houses have been carefully renovated and appear with charm and a unique intimate cosiness. We can offer 40 good beds indoors and several sleeping places outdoors in a lavvo - or in a hammock.

One of the highlights for our guests is a gathering around the campfire site by Sæterlisjøen. Here we have a beautiful pier with a wood-fired sauna and hot tub. With us you can experience nights without light pollution with a magical starry sky. If you are lucky, you can experience the Northern Lights in winter. When it gets dark, we illuminate the entire area with candles so that you can enjoy the moon and the starry sky completely undisturbed.

We emphasize food that is homemade, sustainable, and of solid quality. We are located in the middle of the food platter, with forests and farms surrounding us. Short-distance food with good, fresh ingredients from local producers and suppliers therefore adds flavor to our dishes throughout the year.

We offer activities suitable for everyone – regardless of age and physical fitness.

Our focus is on organizing activities that create unity, teamwork and lots of laughter. At the same time, we like to organize informal competitions with a twinkle in the eye.
