Under Folgefonna in Hardanger lies Kvestad Sideri. Kvestad is located approx. 220 m above sea level and here apples are produced and cider is made far up the mountainside. Kvestad Sideri is currently the highest cider producer in Hardanger. The first cider is named after the year 1808, which was a particularly dramatic year for the Kvestad cluster orchard. The whole story about 1808 can be found on our website.

1808 is a cider made in the traditional way, as has been done for generations at Brug 2 in Kvestad. Haakon, who owns Brug 2 today, learned to make cider from his father – Oddmund. Now it is his daughters Hilde and Marianne who learn from Haakon, and in this way traditions are kept alive. The 1808 cider is semi-dry and sparkling.

There are a total of 7 members in the family business Kvestad Sideri; Ellen and Haakon, their daughters Hilde and Marianne, their partners Andre and Olav Arne, and their cousin Ole Kristian. With a good mix of different skills and experience, we work well together and drive the business forward together.

We welcome groups for cider tasting all year round – get in touch!
