On the idyllic city island of Kalvøy, just outside the center of Stavanger, the Middelthon family runs a small farm. There are cattle and greenhouses, function rooms and a charming little ice cream factory.
The event venue is called Kalvøy Maritime Park, and offers team building, meeting rooms, dinner and dessert, among other things. This is where Mrs. Middelthon's ice cream dream began in 2017, when she started making ice cream with fresh raspberries for guests in Kalvøyparken. The ice cream was well received, and in the winter of 2020, production of the delicious ice cream in portion cups began, for sale outside the island.
Øy-isen from Kalvøy is restaurant ice cream in a cup. This means quality ingredients, and we use the short-haul principle where we can. Berries are hand-picked on our own farm on Kalvøy, cream comes from the local dairy and egg yolks come from smiling hens on Sunde. However, some ingredients come from afar, as we believe that the French manufacturer Valrhona provides the best chocolate, and real vanilla beans taste best from Madagascar.
