Hjortegården in Stokke is centrally located between Sandefjord and Tønsberg. We offer the sale of deer meat, specially produced deer sausage from our own animals, as well as live animal production. The farm has been in the family's ownership since the 1700th century. Since the takeover in 2011, we have experienced increasing interest in both the animals, the operation, the farm and the meat. Both families with children and adults will enjoy watching the animals being fed and enjoying themselves in the garden on pre-announced days.
Animal welfare is very important to us and the animals roam freely within a larger area where the calves are also born in early summer. The production has a low climate footprint and they graze on our own pastures. In winter we feed with hay from our own production and from neighbors. We also have some supplementary feed in the form of leftovers from the beer production of Færder Mikrobryggeri AS in Tønsberg. The meat is produced without the use of antibiotics and is of the highest quality.
In addition to developing the operation, we have focused on creating a garden with beautiful seating areas and views of grazing red deer in the immediate vicinity. The garden is being upgraded and developed continuously and is planted with beech hedges, honeysuckle, rhododendron, lavender, hosta and yew, among other things. It also has open rock with the distinctive local lava rock rhombus porphyry.
