Welcome to Heinseter! The family business Heinseter is a traditional cabin centrally located at 1100 meters above sea level, on the northeastern side of the Hardangervidda plateau, by the Heinelva River. The cabin is located inside the Hardangervidda National Park.
When the cabin first opened in 1934, it was a small primitive cabin built from materials from a cabin Fritdjof Nansen used on the plateau, and the "Nansen table" is still a memory on the site. When restoring the cabin, emphasis has been placed on preserving old traditions in the form of rose painting, wooden decorations and memories of earlier times. Heinseter has the cleanest source of electricity on the Hardangervidda. The wind power plant, "Fjellvind", was opened in 2001 by the President of the Storting.
