We who run Dun Gård aim to produce food of the very best quality, and that animals and people should be well. In Matgarasjen we offer food made from scratch, and as far as possible with local ingredients. Exciting guest chefs often visit, which puts their own distinctive touch on the menu. We have a market garden and cooperative farming, and in the farm shop we sell, among other things, our own beef of the highest quality. Sia Trønder, Angus and 50% Wagyu, grass-fed and organic. In season, also vegetables, herbs and other edible plants. And we have a good selection of exciting products from other producers.
An idyllic small Nordland house - Dun Holiday House - can be booked for accommodation through AirBNB.
Dun Gård is located on the island of Jøa in Namsos. We who run the farm do it out of love for animals and the land, the nature around us, and all the nice people who come by. Those who visit us are guests in the restaurant, members of the farm's cooperative, are here for work practice and courses, or buy meat, herbs and vegetables - and care about where the food they eat comes from. Our goal is to produce food of the very best quality, and that animals and people should be well. We have cattle breeds that are known for good fat marbling and extra good taste. The animals roam freely when they want, and when they are not grazing, they only get roughage produced on the farm. We grow many different varieties of vegetables and potatoes, herbs and other edible plants, and get eggs from Icelandic hens that roam freely in the forest by the stream. We are concerned with living soil, and have chosen to grow organically, without chemicals or artificial fertilizers. In addition to the market garden and sales from the farm, Dun Andelslandbruk is located on the farm.
In the summer of 2023, we opened "Matgarasjen", the restaurant that has made it possible for us to get the good ingredients from the farm to the table. The farm shop is self-service and open 24 hours a day. Some weekends we invite you to the market, when there is a sale of freshly harvested vegetables in season, perhaps a second-hand market, concerts, exhibitions and more.
We also have concerts, exhibitions, lectures, and various courses in cooking or agricultural-related topics.
On a small farmyard all by itself, the grandmother's house is located in the countryside, surrounded by fields, mountains and a beautiful cultural landscape. There are 8 beds in four rooms, and a well-equipped kitchen where you can cook your own food. Dun Holiday Home can be rented through AirBNB.
