At Bolkesjø Gaard you get unique accommodation that goes far beyond modern concepts. Here you stay in real cultural heritage – from one of Norway’s oldest residential houses from the 1200th century combined with modern architecture, to historic barns with panoramic views of the Telemark landscape and glamping on the waterfront. You can also gather your extended family or group of friends for a real “Farmen holiday” at Husmannsplassen by Follsjø – right next to the area where The Farm was filmed.
The family-run farm is surrounded by forests and lakes, with great hiking opportunities, fishing, swimming and everything the forest has to offer – as well as good opportunities for cycling. The idyllic beach at beautiful Follsjø is an eldorado for young and old, and here you will also find our wood-fired sauna – a highlight for many of our guests. Blefjell is just a short drive away with beautiful mountain hikes all year round.
We offer accommodation in all standards, all close to nature and with their own unique character. Årestua has a very high standard, restored with respect for history and with a view that will take your breath away. At Stabburet you wake up in a four-poster bed and feel close to farm life. At Seteren – or Stulen, as it is called locally – you live in the middle of the forest, far from people and light pollution. At the 1800th-century Husmannsplassen you have plenty of space to create new memories with the whole flock, and in the summer we offer exclusive glamping right down on the water's edge of beautiful Follsjø.Bolkesjø has a long tradition of hospitality. It has been a coach station here since 1624, and during the National Romantic era the area was referred to as the “Tourist Gateway to Wonderland”. We are happy to take guests on cultural and historical walks and parts of the rich cultural heritage and local traditions that characterize the area.
Here, children can explore nature freely. In the summer, sheep graze around the farm, the flower meadows are in full bloom, and the forest is full of berries and mushrooms – did you know that we also have our own Nature Reserve? Bolkesjø is just as suitable for families and friends who want activity and exploration, as it is for adults who seek peace, company and time together.
