Aukrust Farm and Herbalist is located under the Lomseggen mountain range - surrounded by the highest mountains in Northern Europe. With us you will find nourishment for body and soul - we have a beautiful herb garden and a nourishing herb production. In the farm shop you will find the country's largest selection of organic tea and spices, bacon sausages from our own animals and seasonal vegetables. In the herbalist's house we have exhibitions, concerts - or catering for up to 50 people. Contact us and we will tailor a program!
The farm is the hometown of the poet Olav Aukrust (1883 – 1929). We can offer tours of the old barns where he grew up, often combined with a farm tour. We can emphasize more the cultural-historical side, – or topics such as herb cultivation and use, garden history, ecology and bio-dynamic agriculture.
The farm has been run organically / bio-dynamically since 1985. Gradually, herb growing and processing has become the specialty. We deliver tea and spices all over the country, - but the largest selection can be found in the farm shop. Although we have stopped milk production, we have suckler cows, pigs and chickens, - we process the meat into 4 exciting sausage varieties with our own spices.
The herb garden house is a stave construction, with galleries leading out to the herb garden and cultivation fields. Here we hold various cultural events during the summer months, or offer lectures or catering.
