Valbjør has a beautiful location and a fantastic view just 5km from Vågå center. Here you can experience animals, nice hiking opportunities, and a cozy atmosphere in old log houses. Whether your goal is round trips in Jotunheimen or more extreme adventures, Valbjør is a good starting point.
Valbjør, (from vallr-falk) Valabjør - Falkberg, is a very old and traditional farm in Vågå, 700 meters above sea level on the "sunny side" of Vågåvatnet. It is first mentioned in a parchment letter from 1280, but a burial mound on the farm testifies to settlement dating back to the 800-900s. It's possible that the same family has owned the farm since that time, which has an exciting and interesting history.
Today, there are 13 old buildings in the farmyard. All of them have been authentically restored and prepared for rental. The oldest building, Gammelloftet, dates back to around 1600. Today, the main production is goat milk, and the farm was converted to organic farming in the early 1980s.
The farm shop is self-service and open every day from 10:00-20:00, selling our own goat cured sausage, our own cheese, Fjell-geit, a white mold cheese/brie that has received international awards, as well as other assorted goods and local handicrafts.
With us, you will find a beautiful farm complex where guided tours can be arranged. We offer accommodation in Vetlestugu from 1738, Nordrestugu from the 1700s, Aasheimstugu from 1850, and other "sleeping lofts" with access to bathrooms and toilets. In total, we can offer 27 beds.
Otherwise, the farm is centrally located in an excellent hiking area in a protected cultural landscape close to untouched mountain areas.
